If your child’s behavior is making daily life hard for the family, then in-home therapy may be right for your child and family. Counselors work with your whole family, helping you as a parent to help your child. In-home therapy can help your child and family to

• resolve conflicts;
• learn new ways to do things;
• make new routines;
• set limits; and
• find community resources.

 Therapeutic Mentors

Some children want to get along with others, but need help and practice learning to talk or act in new ways. A therapeutic mentor will go with your child to the places where your child has the most trouble and teach him or her new skills, such as better ways to talk or act with other children and adults.

Counseling Services

Our programs utilize the evidenced based practice of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These techniques are effective in developing a strong supportive empowering relationship with the clients so that they are an active participant in treatment.

MI is utilized to engage individuals in treatment. Many may have tried unsuccessfully in the past and are reluctant to invest the hope and trust necessary to try again.

This non-judgmental, non-confrontational and non-adversarial approach increases the client's awareness of the potential problems caused, consequences experienced, and risks faced as a result of the behavior in question.

Counselor empower clients by providing him or her with the necessary information, tools, and support to assist in change. Employing  a collaborative rather than a confrontational style whereby counselors develop a strong rapport with clients and guide them through any initial ambivalence.

Once this relationship is establish and the client has made the decision to address their issues, we incorporate DBT. The core strategies in DBT are 'validation' and 'problem solving'. DBT has five components: (1) capability enhancement; (2) individual behavioral treatment plans; (3) access to therapist outside clinical setting, homework, and inclusion of family in treatment); (4) structuring of the environment; and (5) capability and motivational enhancement of therapists. DBT emphasizes balancing behavioral change, problem-solving, and emotional regulation with validation, mindfulness, and acceptance of patients.
